transforming your life

5 Ways to Set Yourself Up for Success in Your Life & Career

If there's one thing I've learned over the last year, it's that transforming your life requires staying the course, which inevitably will require busting through unforeseen road blocks or stumbles along the way.

The good news is that consistency and the drive to keep going, keep choosing how you desire to feel and be, and to keep putting your dreams and desires first starts and stops with YOU.

So how can you set yourself up for success in 2016 (and beyond) on the journey to a more joy-filled, authentic lifestyle?

Here are five specific ways you can set yourself up for success in living your bespoke version of A Love Styled Life.

1. Do Something NOW

The moment you set a goal, intention, dream or desire in writing, do something right then and there toward it. Make a phone call, hire that coach, go for that walk, look into the cost of that airline ticket, etc. Taking action NOW not only shows the Universe that you're serious about your desires, but it also help put your heart and soul in direct alignment with that feeling or experience you're craving.

2. Put Self Care First

Seriously, FIRST. Above your kids, above your husband, above your family or work. You cannot live A Love Styled Life if you perpetually leave yourself to last. I say this often, but just like on an airplane when they ask parents to place their mask on first before placing a mask on their children, so, too, must you continue to put your mask on first in every area of your life. YOU CANNOT GIVE WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE FIRST. By putting self care first, you can be a better wife, girlfriend, daughter, mother, employee, or business owner. The fun part is that you get to decide what this means for you!

3. Stay in a Routine of Gratitude

gratitude is in the realm of the spiritual. When you live from a place of gratitude, you keep yourself connected to God/Universe/Source, which keeps you connected to receive everything you dream and desire. Plus, everything is happening for you... whether as an opportunity to learn or grow, or whether as a gift and match for your desires. Finding the gratitude in every aspect of life will keep you moving forward and living within the realm of how you desire to feel and be at all turns.

4. Surround Yourself w/ the Support YOU Need

I cannot stress this one enough. As Jim Rohn reminds us, your life is the average of the five people you spend the most time with. But here at A Love Styled Life, we take it a step further. Your life is a reflection of not only the people, but also the places and information you surround yourself with the most. So if you're looking to completely transform your world, you have to transform who and what you surround yourself with. Hire a coach, make new friends, choose a new work environment, declutter your Facebook feed, etc. Personally, the biggest leaps in my life came from hiring a coach and from my decision to stop watching the local nightly news. Getting rid of the drama and investing in someone who was completely dedicated to my success were two of the best decisions I have ever made in my life to-date.

5. Spend Time in Silence

Getting clear on how you desire to feel and be in your life comes from first getting in touch with yourself. And getting in touch with yourself comes easiest in silence. There is so much noise in our world... from social media to the well-meaning opinions of our loved ones... that it's difficult to actually make decisions from our authentic dreams and desires. Two years ago I started going for daily walks in silence, without a cell phone. No music, no companions, just me and my silence. Today this has become my favorite form of self care, and one of the biggest ways I create in my life and my business. Dedicate time to a consistent practice of silence, and I promise you'll be on the way to living your bespoke version of A Love Styled Life!

Now it's your turn...

So in the spirit of experience wholeness, this week's #StyleTruthChallenge asks you to:

Choose one of the ways above for setting yourself up for success, and actually implement it in your life!

Becoming The Dream

There are 400 billion bits of information that our brain has exposure to...every single moment of the day.

Yes...you read that right...400 billion bits of information!

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that not even the most advanced of human brains can compute all that information at once.

So what does our brain do?

It narrows down that 400 billion bits of information into a measly 2,000.

Yes, you read that right...

Every single moment of the day, your brain pulls out and processes only 2,000 bits of information from the 400 billion bits of information available to it. And just to hit that point home further, those 2,000 bits of information are approximately one-half of one-millionth of a percent...or one half of this little number: 0.000001. Needless to say, in comparison to what's available to us, our brain doesn't even come close to tapping into all that's available to us in any given moment of the day.

But what does this have to do with living A Love Styled Life? Simply...everything. Because the thoughts, beliefs, and feelings we hold about everything in our life becomes the barometer for what information our brain pulls out and processes.

In this week's video, Elizabeth Gilbert (author of Eat, Pray, Love) talks about how this played out in her own life...and specifically in relation to her love life, and attracting the man of her dreams. Watch the short 3 minute video below:

As Elizabeth Gilbert talked about, she wasn't able to attract the love of her life into her life, until she became the kind of woman who stood in her power and recognized her worth. Her brain literally couldn't recognize the amazing relationship, until she had an amazing relationship with herself and knew (aka thought, believed, and felt) that it was possible.

So in the name of becoming your dream life, this week's #StyleTruthChallenge asks:

What will you need to become, in order to live the life and livelihood you're dreaming of?

For this week's challenge, I want you to share one little thing you can begin to become in order to move closer and closer to your dream. Is that test driving your dream car, taking 20 minutes to meditate, or signing up for the domain of your dream business? Is it creating an affirmation such as: " I look forward to having a free work schedule ", or " I look forward to feeling confident about myself ", or " I look forward to living the life of my dreams "?

The Eagles & The Chickens

I can't believe my week in Italy is coming to a close (right now, as you're reading this, I'm in the air...probably drinking coffee and watching my third movie of the long trans-atlantic flight).

What an amazing adventure it's been, with more growth and expansion in my life and my livelihood than I ever thought could be possible in just seven days. For this week's #StyleTruthSunday challenge, I share with you one such growth...something I became vividly aware of while traveling abroad this week. And more importantly, something that can easily keep us playing small in our life and livelihoods.

What is it, you ask?

Well...

it all has to do with whether or not you have eagles, or chickens.

Huh?

Yes, you did read that right.

Don't worry, I explain all of it in this week's short 8 minute video (filmed live from my hotel in Milan). Check it out below:

Honor You, And Miracles Happen

Good morning (or goodnight, depending on where you are in the world). After a long travel journey, I'm finally in Italy...relaxes, meditated, and able to finally soak in all the beauty I'm seeing around me. This experience, while just beginning, has been something beyond my wildest dreams...and I couldn't be more excited to share it with you!

And while I don't have a single video for you this morning, I want to invite you over to my FB page, where I'll be sharing videos with you all week from my journey here! Remember ladies, anything and everything is possible!

Cheers to living your own bespoke version of #ALoveStyledLife

The Vision For Your Life

There's so much happening this week in preparation for my journey to Italy (I can't believe I leave on Sunday!!!!), that I chose to share one of my favorite videos of all time with you for #StyleTruthSunday. It's a video taken of Oprah, speaking with student leaders at Stanford University. It's a truly moving speech, all about her journey, and some of the most pivotal and inspiring moments of her life...including never asked questions that had even the queen of talk completely stumped and impressed!

My favorite takeaway?

"Align your personality with your purpose, and no one can touch you"

I love this so much, because I've seen the power of this in my own life. Not just in my relationships, my health, etc...but also in my business & career. The minute I started approaching everything from my authentic self, everything started moving, shifting, growing, and shaping!

Watch the full video below (and be sure to check out this week's challenge below the video):

For this week's #StyleTruthChallenge, I'd love to hear your biggest takeaway! Let me know in the comments below, or head on over to Instagram, using the hashtags #StyleTruthSundayChallenge!

The Power of Faith

As time goes by, it's becoming more and more apparent to me just how important it is for us to connect with our true and authentic selves.  How we see ourselves, what we believe in, all of these things direct what we are choosing to experience in all areas of our lives.

In simplest terms, it's all about the power of our faith!

See what I mean in this week's short 8 minute video, below:

This week, I'm finally getting the chance to share with you THEE video...you know, the one that I couldn't quite find a way to upload? The beautiful thing about it, is that this week's topic is something I've been hearing a lot lately...from my clients, to my friends/family, to the media. What Are You Communicating?

This week I'm on the road and sharing your #StyleTruthChallenge from my childhood bedroom...that same childhood bedroom that became my comfort zone while hitting rock bottom at the age of 30. So the significance of this week and this topic could not be more timely, especially as it relates to truly creating your own bespoke version of A Love Styled Life. And quite honestly, it was the perfect message for me, too... as I've begun to up-level a few different areas of my life. Find out what two shifts you need to make to transform these areas of your life by watching this week's short 8 minute video below (plus more personal deets on what I discovered about myself, too).

Take Care Of Yourself First

It's becoming no surprise to me that every single time I sit down to write out the detailed content for each week's #StyleTruthSunday, that inevitably...some major thing related to that week's topic...has surfaced within the workings of my own life. And this week, was no different.

This Sunday we're going deep on one of my favorite topics: Self Care. And not just on why it's important, but also, how you can begin to proactively incorporate more self care into your daily life. I'm also sharing with you the one piece of self care that often gets left out of the discussion (but one, in my opinion, that is perhaps the most prevalent...and the one, that when practiced, can create the biggest levels of transformation in your life).

Decision Time

Wow! What a week...

I have to say I've been reminded so much about what it requires to live #ALoveStyledLIfe over the course of the last 7 days, especially as it relates to decision-making. Making decisions is the foundation of living your life...but making thoughtful, intentional, aligned decisions (decision that lead you in the direction of your dreams) can be difficult if you're faced with the dreaded four letter word that seems to plague us all.

What's this four letter word, you say?

Well...for this week's #StyleTruthSunday I talk all about it, including how it showed up for me this week, and how I was able to shift back into making decisions from a place of love.
